Building Systems Consulting Inc. (BSC) is a mechanical engineering firm seeking a motivated individual to assist in engineering and designing plumbing and HVAC systems for multi-residential, commercial, and institutional buildings in Canadian northern communities.

We are currently seeking a talented and experienced BIM Coordinator to join our dynamic team and lead our BIM initiatives.

Position Overview:

The BIM Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the implementation, development, and management of Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes and technologies across all projects. In this role, the BIM Coordinator will also serve as the primary drafting resource for both the mechanical and electrical teams. Additionally, this role includes the management of document control processes to ensure accurate and timely documentation throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in BIM methodologies, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-disciplinary teams. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production Drafting: Serve as the primary drafting resource for the mechanical and electrical teams, producing detailed and accurate drawings that adhere to project specifications.
  • BIM Leadership: Lead the development and implementation of BIM standards, processes, and best practices across the organization.
  • Project Coordination: Manage and coordinate BIM workflows on multiple projects, ensuring that models are accurate, up-to-date, and meet project requirements.
  • Document Control: Oversee document control processes, ensuring that all project documentation is properly organized, stored, and accessible to relevant team members. Maintain version control and ensure that all documents are up-to-date and distributed as needed.
  • Training & Support: Provide training and ongoing support to project teams on BIM tools, processes, and document control systems, ensuring a high level of competency within the team.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with designers to ensure that BIM models and documentation are integrated seamlessly into the design and construction process.

Quality Assurance: Conduct regular audits of BIM models and project documentation to ensure compliance with project standards and identify areas for improvement.

Innovation: Stay up-to-date with the latest BIM and document control technologies and trends, and drive innovation within the company to improve efficiency and project outcomes.

Documentation: Maintain and update BIM and document control documentation, including manuals, templates, and guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Technical diploma in a related field such as Engineering Design Technology, Architectural Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a drafting role.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced skills in BIM software such as Revit, AutoCAD
  • Leadership: Proven experience in a leadership role is an asset.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail, especially in managing project documentation and ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
