The Old Territorial Administration Building was originally constructed in 1901 and is designated as a Heritage building within the Territory. BSC assisted in the design of a building retrofit that worked to improve building performance, energy efficiency and extend the building life while minimizing and disruption to the Heritage fabric of the building. Along with several space reconfigurations to accommodate the museum tenant, the modification included a complete retrofit to the building’s aging heating and ventilation systems, replacement of the existing fire protection systems, retrofit of mechanical cooling in key areas, and upgrades to the facility plumbing. The revitalization project aimed to breathe new life into the heritage building while also reducing the building carbon footprint through targeted to improve performance and efficiency. The project was delivered in a phased approach to sequence the work based on the client budget.
